Swarming beehive and heady wine

Sleeping sleepless nights

Eyelids flutter dreaming

Effervescent thoughts break down

A clear mind

The ideal essence of feminism

"The aspect of feminist revolution that calls women to love womanness, that calls men to resist dehumanizing concepts of masculinity, is an essential part of our struggle. It is the process by which we move from seeing ourselves as objects to acting as subjects. When women and men understand that working to eradicate patriarchal domination is a struggle rooted in the longing to make a world where everyone can live fully and freely, then we know our work to be a gesture of love.”

- Gloria Jean Watkins aka Bell Hooks

Feminism is not about misandry or enforcing double standards.

A wise person is able to let go. To let go is actually to receive. To receive boundless happiness. - Master Cheng Yen

Why does every day feel like a week

Mexican Hot Chocolate

1. Put dark hot chocolate powder into cup

2. Add cinnamon powder and mix

2. Add enough boiling water to dissolve powder

3. Add honey, stir

3. Add milk, stir

4. Microwave

5. drink

*The honey is for flavor, but adds sugar as well so you can cut back on the cocoa powder if it is sweetened already

Let me appease these cliches for a moment

Live, laugh, and love everyday

Show gratitude in sincere ways

The Golden Rule of reciprocity

Holds its ubiquity across all religions and peoples

Whatever anthropogenic reasoning

You act, you feel, and this connects everything and everyone

To see a World in a Grain of Sand
And a Heaven in a Wild Flower,
Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand
And Eternity in an hour.

A Robin Redbreast in a Cage
Puts all Heaven in a Rage.
A dove house fill’d with doves and pigeons
Shudders Hell thro’ all its regions.
A Dog starv’d at his Master’s Gate
Predicts the ruin of the State.
A Horse misus’d upon the Road
Calls to Heaven for Human blood.
Each outcry of the hunted Hare
A fiber from the Brain does tear.

He who shall train the Horse to War
Shall never pass the Polar Bar.
The Beggar’s Dog and Widow’s Cat,
Feed them and thou wilt grow fat.
The Gnat that sings his Summer song
Poison gets from Slander’s tongue.
The poison of the Snake and Newt
Is the sweat of Envy’s Foot.

A truth that’s told with bad intent
Beats all the Lies you can invent.
It is right it should be so;
Man was made for Joy and Woe;
And when this we rightly know
Thro’ the World we safely go.

Every Night and every Morn
Some to Misery are Born.
Every Morn and every Night
Some are Born to sweet delight.
Some are Born to sweet delight,
Some are Born to Endless Night.

-William Blake

A plan to do well in school that I made for myself 2 years ago…

Goal Plan for 2011-2012

1.@ Beginning of semester: make weekly schedule

-list study resources and try them out

-find study groups for each class; try them out; decide within the first week which ones you will stick with.(BIOEHS, MEP academic learning, SLC)

- develop a schedule of when you do what homework and how much of it for how long.

-set aside time for career development

-look for environ. or eng. clubs and go to the meetings; choose one to stick with; set aside time for the club activities.

-set aside time to excercise

2. Start organized, stay organized

- get a box to file all papers for every class and activity you have

-clean desk after every use
- do laundry once a week

3.Studying habits

-BEFORE CLASS: review last lectures notes, then preread the next section!

-Record lecture material(especially for humanities)

-When taking notes always have a pen(for important stuff); a pencil(for examples); and a highlighter(for especially important stuff)

-Revisit class notes and make note of important points

-Give yourself breaks

-have a plan of how to catch up or not fall behind when there is a midterm in another class.

Studying Tips

1. before you start studying, think about the topic you are about to study. be curious about the topic. Then you will have a motivation to study and it’ll be easier to get into the zone.

*Other notes

-Stick with your schedule(make it possible)
-Set a buffer time for making up material
-Have a plan of how to catch up or not fall behind when there is a midterm in another class.
- If you are going to lecture, make use of the time you spend there by staying alert and asking questions

*Things to “Recall” :]

- you take tests best when you feel prepared
-prepared to be suprised.
-don’t panic on a hard test; NEVER assume you don’t have the knowledge to do a problem. They can always be figured out with what you learned.
- you have friends. don’t neglect them.
- you also have a family. don’t neglect them either.
- be aware of your personal brand. What do you want it to be?
- listen to music when you can. it keeps a body happy.

good things in 302. happy autumn!!
